Birchbox September 2015 Review
The September Birchbox included 100% Pure Organic Coffee Bean Eyecream; Anastasia Brow Pencil; Davines OI All in One Milk; Harvey Prince Hello! Spritz and POP Beauty POP Portfolio Eyeshadow in Sugar Plum. All items this month were sample size with no full size products 🙁 .
The 100% Pure coffee bean eye cream smells wonderful, like chocolate coffee. When I used it it did not bother my sensitive eyes even though it was scented. Like most eye creams, it smoothed out my under eye and did do a little to de-puff and brighten a tad. I will probably use this until it is gone or throw it in my travel bag to take on trips. It is a 0.3 oz size so it is a good travel size. The size I received is probably valued at about $8.30 and a full size, which is 1 oz. retails for $25.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pencil in Dark Brown was actually a pick I made when I could choose to either let Birchbox pick or I could so I choose this. I is a very small pencil, I was hoping for a full size, so it will travel with me as well. I have used this brand before so I do like it and it is part of a large line of eye and contouring products. I just use a little here and a little there to fill in the sparse spots in my eyebrows, it is slightly waxy, and blend with a spoolie brush and I am good to go. The size I received is a 0.013 oz size and a full size is 0.034. The full size sells for $23. I would say the size I received is valued at around $7.
OI Davines Hair Milk is a spray leave in treatment that did help to tame down my little twigs that have a tendency to stick out all over my head, but the consistency is kind of thick so the sprayer spit more than sprayed. It is not heavy or oily so it did not weigh my hair down or make it look greasy. It does however have a slightly soapy/medicinal fragrance that I do not really care for. They also included a packet each of the OI sulfate free shampoo and conditioner that is suppose to hydrate, boost shine and soften hair. I have not yet used the shampoo and conditioner so I really hope it does not have the same fragrance when I do use it. After I use it I will come back and update my findings. The size I received is a 1.69 oz size valued at about $11.12. The full size is 4.56 oz and retails for $30.
Harvey Prince Hello! spritz. It is a summery fragrance that is a citrus and floral fragrance. Not really an unpleasant smell but over all not one I would buy for myself. Fragrance is a very personal choice and for me I would not purchase this particular fragrance. I received a small test vial valued at about $2. The full size is 1.5 ml and retails for $55.
The eyeshadow is POP Beauty Sugar Plum. They are bold and blendable colors but not my personal favorites. Purples are suppose to look good with brown eyes, but it makes me look like I have been punched so I do not wear them, not a good look. These will be gifted to another. The size in this months box has 3 colors and is valued at about $7.80. The full size POP Portfolio is 10 shades and retails for $26.
So, for this months Birchbox I value it at about $39. Not really as impressive as the first two I received and out of the 5 items received (not counting the 2 small packets) I will probably really use only 2 the others I will give to other people. If I can get past the smell of the hair milk I may continue to use it, we shall see.
Birchbox is a beauty discovery box that will send you 5 samples or occasionally a full-size product and they now offer an option for an extra $20 per month to get 2 full-size products in addition to your regular box. Birchbox is normally $10 a month, plus you accumulate points after reviewing the items in your box. You’ll get 10 points per item reviewed, and 100 points are equal to $10 in the shop.
Well, that’s it for now my beauties. If you would like to comment on any of my reviews please hit me up in the comments section. I’d love to hear from you.
