ELE Skin USA 20% Vitamin C Serum Review
You know what I learned the hard way? That rosacea and this level and formulation of Vitamin C do not like each other.
I received this product at a discounted cost from ELE Skin USA on Amazon for an honest and unbiased review. I can promise you it is most definitely honest and unbiased. Let’s get started shall we?
OK, so this lovely rosacea my skin decided to develop when I turned 50 cropped up and let itself be known about 6 months ago. With this new skin issue I am currently in a learning curve, things like what I can and cannot use. Unfortunately, I found out that the ELE Skin 20% Vitamin C serum is one of those things I cannot use. Upon reading the box I read the many benefits that I was excited about that this Vitamin C product would provide:
• SCIENTIFICALLY ADVANCED LIPOSOMAL TECHNOLOGY – product combine scientifically advanced anti-aging, clarifying, moisturizing, and exfoliating ingredients to help rehabilitate the look of skin, restoring a healthier and more youthful looking appearance.
• NATURAL & ORGANIC ingredients
• BEST ANTIOXIDANT FOR YOUR SKIN – highest Pure Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Ferulic Acid, and Hyaluronic Acid to create an antioxidant that promote the production of collagen, protect skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays, help diminish dark spots from sun damage, and prevent against fine lines and wrinkles.
• ORGANIC – VEGAN – CRUELTY FREE – PARABEN FREE
• MADE IN USA – manufactured in our FDA certified GMP certified laboratory under US FDA guidelines.
My immediate first impression of the product was that it was very runny out of the dropper but at the same time did not apply very well to my face, it seemed to just stick to my skin. It left my face feeling… tacky, is the word that comes to mind. However, within the hour after application I lit up like a Christmas tree, my face was bright red and it felt like I had a really, REALLY bad sunburn. However, it still had not absorbed into my skin, it was still tacky, so now I was not only still sticky but now my face was on fire as well. I finally had to wash my face as it just continued it get worse. Even after washing my face it took it a full 24 hours to calm down and stop feeling hot and uncomfortable. I waited a few days thinking this was a one-off kinda thing and it was just a freakish thing to happen. I waited 3 days and let my now very angry skin calm down. Tried again, same thing, had to wash it off immediately. So, I began to do some reading and apparently Vitamin C, at this level, is very acidic to rosacea. I just learned a painful lesson. I had been wanting to try a Vitamin C serum because people rave about the wonderful benefits of said treatment 🙁 I am sad and disheartened that this did not work out for me and my apparently angry skin.
I am not a saying this is a bad product but that it is just a product that did not work for me. The level of Vitamin C concentration, which is actually what normal skin wants, is just too much for me. After this experience I began doing some research and found out that when you have rosacea or sensitive skin you need Vitamin C ester and not a full on, straight up Vitamin C serum. Extremely important note to self to remember in the future when shopping for skincare products. Overall I would just recommend to approach any Vitamin C serum with extreme caution if you have rosacea and I apologize that I cannot speak to the result or reaction this product would have on normal skin.
