GLOSSYBOX October 2015 Subscription Box Review
PARIS! Was this month’s GLOSSYBOX Theme
Hello lovelies, this month’s Glossybox theme was Paris, everything contained in the box either has Paris in the Product name or was made by a company from France. So let’s get to it, shall we?
In this month’s box I received the following products: Phyto Paris, Phytokeratine Repairing Thermal Protectant Spray; La Roche-Posay Redermic [R]; Nuxe Paris, Gelee Exfoliante Douce Gentle Exfoliating Gel with Rose Petals; Lollipops Makeup Paris Nail Lacquer and De Bruyere Paris Red Lipgloss.
Unfortunately, the first 2 products in my review I will not be able to use as they will both aggravate my rosacea but I will post the pictures and put the description below each picture. I apologize for the inconvenience this might cause some of you.
This is the Nuxe Paris, Gelee Exfoliante Douce Gentle Exfoliating Gel with Rose Petals. This exfoliating gel utilizes antioxidant-filled lychee, roses and ground walnut shells to exfoliate and eliminate dead skin cells. Gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin (not), your complexion will be radiant and ready to face the fall. Now, if not for the walnut shells this cleanser would have probably thrilled me because I love gel cleansers, especially the ones with antioxidants but this on the other hand was a fail. I applied it to the back of my hand and let me tell you, those walnut shells are rough. I don’t even know that I would want to use this on my body let alone my face. So, I will be passing this on to someone who might want to give it a go and I will wish them God speed in it’s use. This is a full size 2.6 oz tube which retails for $26.
This is the La Roche-Posay Redermic [R] an intensive anti-aging concentrate containing pure retinol, this is another fail for me because of the retinol, you talk about a red and angry face, I’d have one. The information card states that their retinol is in a soothing complex that reduces the discomfort usually associated with retinol but I am just a big chicken and too scared to try it. It states that it is an ideal base for makeup but I just don’t know about that, I would think that anything with the potential to make you peel and flake, which is kind of the purpose of retinol resurfacing the skin and all, so hmmm… Therefore it will be this reviewer’s choice to not chance it and give another pass and pass this one to one who might derive some use out of it. Don’t get me wrong, the skincare line of La Roche-Posay is a very good skincare line as I have some of their other products but when something says retinol in the ingredient list I just walk on. A full size of this product is 1 oz. and retails for $57 the one I received in my box is 0.16 oz. and so truth be told I suck at math and I have no idea how to calculate the value of this sample. There I said it, I cannot do any type of fraction or anything besides numbers that do not have letters mixed in or look like this: 1/4 🙂
Now this I can use. It is the Phyto Paris, Phytokeratine Repairing Thermal Protectant Spray. Even though I don’t really do anything to my hair that involves heat I still consider this a leave-in conditioner. It detangles and protects hair from breakage while preventing future damage. I have used Phyto products before and their claims hold true so even though I don’t use heat on my hair I’ve no doubt that this product will do as it claims it will do. The full size of this is 5 oz and retails for $32. The sample in my Glossybox is a 1 oz size so I’d say it is worth $6.40. See I could do that math it didn’t involve anything weird.
This is a swatch of the lipgloss that is the De Bruyere Paris Red Lipgloss. When they say red they are not kidding. I call this a 50’s red, the one like my mom wore when she was young. This is a true RED! not crimson and not apple but crayola crayon red. This would look beautiful with a simple cat eye, again, like they wore in the 50’s, before smoky eyes became a thing. The card says that this color was inspired by the Moulin Rouge in Paris. It is a highly pigmented gloss that applies well and did not make my lips sticky after I applied it. This is a full size that came in this month’s box and retails for $17.50 for .17 oz.
Lollipops Makeup Paris Nail Lacquer in Voyage A Paris, another true RED!. Not only is this box Paris but it is also old school colors, which I like, the simplicity of it all. Once again, I swatched on my hand because I have shellac on my nails and don’t want to paint over it. This will be another toe color but since sandal weather has gone away now where I live I will save this to use when we go to Key West in February. Then I’ll be able to wear it so people can see it 🙂 This is another full size product at .4 oz and retails for $10.
There you have it folks, my review of the October 2015 GLOSSYBOX. I apologize that there was 2 products I really could not properly review. Maybe next month’s box will be better and I can use everything in it and that way I can properly review everything.
GLOSSYBOX is a monthly subscription box that contains 5 deluxe travel size beauty products and usually all of them will be prestige brand products. The cost is $21.00 per month which is actually not too bad for the products you receive. Sometimes one or two items in the box will occasionally be a full size product.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review. I would love to know your thoughts and opinion’s on the products I review especially if you have used them before. Hopefully my review has entertained or informed you in some way, if so, then I accomplished my goal!
