Included in the October 2015 Ipsy Bag: Eva-Nye Therapy Session Hair Mask; Peter Lamas Exfoliating Pumpkin Facial Scrub; the Balm Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick; It Cosmetics Hello Lashes 5-in-1 Mascara and Emite Make Up Professional Slant Tweezers.
This is the Eva-Nye Therapy Session Hair Mask. Honestly there is nothing extraordinarily special about this hair mask. I applied it as I would any other of the multitude of other deep conditioners I own and left it on for 5 minutes while I finished up my shower. After using my hair was no worse or no better than it was before I used it. It does have a very pleasant fragrance which is a big plus for me. The full size is 16.9 oz. and retails for $14.99 at Ulta. I consider this hair mask just sort of average and will not be running out to purchase it. I will use up what is in the sample tube but I will not be purchasing this product to use on a regular basis.
This is the Peter Lamas Naturals Exfoliating Pumpkin Facial Scrub. I cannot speak to the efficacy of this product. I apologize that I cannot give an accounting of the performance of this product but I have very sensitive skin with rosacea so products like this make my face very red and angry and it hurts, so I do not use this type of exfoliation. If you have normal skin that can tolerate a product such as this it would probably work well for you. The full size product is 4 oz and retails for $28 on the Peter Lamas website but can also be purchased from Amazon for a little under $22. Obviously I will not be purchasing this product.
the Balm Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in the color Committed. This is a pinky-nude lip color. On the positive side this stuff feels like velvet being applied and goes on smooth and easy and it is completely matte. This would be a great color to pair with a smoky eye because it is so understated. The downside is the way it feels when it sets up. If you blot your lips together they stick to each other, this is a very tacky product once dry and you most assuredly want to exfoliate your lips before applying, if not it will settle in to every crease on your lips. It is long wearing but will still leave a lipstick mark on any glass you drink out of. I put a moisturizing gloss over it and liked it a little better but I did absolutely love the color. The full size is 0.25 oz and retails for $17 on the Balm site. This is another one of those products that I will use up what I have, this is an excellent travel size, but will not be purchasing. If it had been more like the Stila liquid lipstick, i.e. more moisturizing, I might would purchase because I do really love the color but I just really do not like the dry tacky feeling this leaves behind.
Hello Lashes! This is one of those products that I already have the full size and am happy I received the travel size, this is done out of the box and in my travel bag. I really cannot say enough good things about this mascara and the brush! I love the brush, I like that you can go vertical with the ball end of the brush. As per the it Cosmetics web site the key benefits to this product are: it is a natural volumizing mascara, it’s a conditioning, hydrating lash primer, a peptide lash growth serum, an eyelash tint, an eyelash comb/curler and is designed to reach every lash. For the most part it does do all of these but to me it is not a lash tint but a full on mascara. I have used eyelash tints and tint is all they do, there is no clumping involved when you use a tint and this can clump if you don’t blot the brush off before applying. The formula wears well and does not irritate my sensitive eyes. I cannot speak to the growth serum claim because I use one of those anyway and don’t wear mascara to be a growth serum in the first place but I am sure that added benefit does not hurt. The full size of this product is $24 off the it Cosmetics website or if you have a local Ulta store it can be purchased there as well.
The Emite make-up professional slant tweezers. I had never heard of this brand so was eager to see how well they did tweeze and I must say I am pleased with the results. I read another review where the reviewer apparently received a bad pair of these tweezers and was not happy with them. As for me I have no complaints, actually I sort of now favor them over the LaCross tweezers I have used for years. I have tried numerous brands of tweezers and none of them would grab on and hold the smaller hairs I wanted to pluck out. These grip super tight and will grab hold of even the smallest hair. Now, they do have a sharp point on the slant end and I did pinch myself several times using them and it does smart when it gets hold of skin. Overall though I am happy with this set of tweezers and would actually probably purchase another pair. The Emite website is written in Swedish so I really didn’t get a lot of use out of it when I went looking for prices. However, I did find this set of tweezers on E-bay for about $4 so I would purchase them again if I ever lose them, read…taken by daughter, I would look for another pair to replace them, especially at $4 on E-bay.
