Petit Vour October 2015 Subscription Box Review
Thank you for dropping by and reading my Petit Vour October 2015 Subscription Box Review. Petit Vour is a vegan beauty subscription box. For only $15 a month receive 4-5 hand-picked luxury vegan beauty & grooming samples to try out each month. This is a great way to find out about luxurious and cruelty-free products especially since these products typically are so hard to find in your regular retail stores and outlets. Mostly you must purchase these types of products on line and usually at a high price. This is a great way to find out what works for you and what doesn’t. Additionally, you can purchase your products from Petit Vour if you like anything you have received that month.
In October’s box I received the following: HABIT Cosmetics Nail Polish, HANA Organic Skincare Eye Oil, Ursa Major of VT Fantastic Face Wash and Essence of Vali Sleep – A Bedtime Ritual.
Up first is the HABIT Nail Polish, this color is called Scarab and it is a beautiful emerald green. If you have had the opportunity to read any of my other reviews you will know I swatch nail polish on my hand because I have shellac on my nails. Weird I know but it allows you to get a relatively accurate color representation. This is a color I will probably use on my toenails next spring. This brand is 5-free, vegan, and uses myrrh in its formula to naturally strengthen nails which can also serve as an anti-fungal. This was a full size and it retails for $18.
This little guy is the Hana Organic Skincare Eye Oil. I have developed a love/hate relationship with this product. I like that the fragrance dissipates a few seconds after application and does not irritate my eyes and I love the way this applies, a little goes a long way so this will last me quite a while. The hate part involves absorption. The little info card that comes with the box suggests “gently tapping with finger until absorbed” the problem is, it does not absorb into the skin, it just sits there. I have really dry and crepey skin around my eyes that will usually suck up any moisture I apply, this just did not absorb at all. I applied it before bed and an hour later my under eye still had an oily sheen. I slept in it and the next morning it was mostly still there. So I will use this at night when I am feeling extra dry to maintain a barrier of moisture under my eye but there is no way I’d ever try to use this under makeup, it would slide all over the place. I’m not sure of the fl oz I received, the full size retails for $40 and the info card places the value of this at $18, so maybe a little over .5 oz?
Here we have the Ursa Major of VT Fantastic Face Wash. This is a foaming gel with a natural brightening complex. It has a clean and fresh scent derived from cedar, spearmint, lime, lemon, rosemary, black spruce, owyhee, vetiver and lavender essential oils. OK, when I saw lavender I thought, not again…. me and lavender are not friends. But, this time, before I put it on my face, I smelled of it and for me the strongest scent was the spearmint, which I like. The lavender is so far down on the ingredient list that I did not smell any lavender at all 🙂 Awesome! So I did use this and it is a very pleasant foaming gel as they state and it did a good job of cleansing without stripping. I am thinking the lime and lemon in here act as an exfoliant but did not seem too harsh, of course I didn’t just let it sit on my face either. The full size of this product sells for $28 and the size received in the box appears to be maybe 1 oz and the card values it at $6.
Here we have a little vial of Essence of Vali Sleep – A Bedtime Ritual. Sorry to report I did not open this, it is, you guessed it, lavender 🙁 among other botanical scents. For some people this might just be awesome but for me, not so much. The card states that this is a concentrated sleep blend and that you can put it all sorts of places to help with sleep. Put it on the corner of your pillow, on a handkerchief inside your pillow case, on all pulse points and even on your fingers to cup over nose to smell while you fall asleep o_O , yeah I don’t think so. I’m sorry but there is not a lot I can help with this, this is going away to someone who likes this kind of thing and can use it. The little vial received is valued at $1 and the full size retails for $18.
So, there you have it folks, my review the October Petit Vour Subscription Box. Sadly, this is going to be my last review of this particular box as I have cancelled my subscription. As much as I love organic, vegan, cruelty-free and non-toxic I have severe botanical allergies and many all natural products do not agree with me because of the high botanical concentrate, especially the ones containing lavender. Therefore, I cannot justify purchasing a box that has maybe 1 or 2 products out of 4 or 5 that I MIGHT can use. However, if any of these products sparked you interest remember that they can be purchased directly from Petit Vour and I don’t think you have to be a subscriber to purchase them, but don’t quote me on that.
Thank you all again for taking the time to read my thoughts and opinions on these products. If you, my reader, have any experience with these products I’d love to hear what you think. So please leave a comment if you would like to add to the discussion and if this has informed or helped you in any way please feel free to share me on Facebook or Twitter by clicking one of my links.
Until next time my lovelies…
