Steve Madden P-Jillia Platform Sandal in Pewter Metal
This Steve Madden platform sandal is what I lovingly call my hooker heels for obvious reasons. The heel on these puppies is about 5 inches and the front platform is 1 inch. However uncomfortable these shoe might look, they are some of the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn, for me that is a hard thing to say. I have a very short, wide and flat foot so finding this high of a heel that is comfortable was a miracle. I am all of 5′ tall and my husband is 6’1″ so imagine how we look when I am walking with him in a flat shoe, he says I look like his kid. Anything that allows me to be taller than a gnome and is comfortable makes me happy. I have had these shoes for a few years but they are worth a review simply because they are so very comfortable and easy to wear. They have the zipper up the back and stretch elastic on the sides so they are easy to put on and have enough give so as to not pinch your feet. And the best part is I found them quite be accident in a local shoe store, The Shoe Dept., if memory serves, they were already seriously on sale for $19.98 and I got them even more on sale with an additional 20% off so I paid right at $17.00 for $75 shoes! A shoe addict’s dream and my husband was happy too, they were on sale AND made me almost 5’6 🙂
I have a really hard time finding shoes that are made for wide feet. I have a narrow heel but a very wide front and that makes it even harder. The luxury brand and higher end shoes seem to be made for people with long narrow feet with a high arch and I have neither. Steve Madden is a brand that I have found who’s shoes will fit my feet and not be like wearing the foot bindings like they use to do in China, eek what pain, no really look it up they really did that. Wikipedia has a whole page on the subject. Anyway, for me usually wearing a high heel is equivalent to that practice. And if short, flat and wide feet were not enough of a hassle my last two toes on my feet are semi hammer toes so that adds an entirely new level of difficulty of finding a non-painful shoe. Steve Madden shoes seem to be made with a wider than usual toe box which allows my feet to relax and be normal and not all scrunched up. I wear a size 6 and they are a true to fit shoe, every Madden I own is a 6 and they all fit perfectly.
So, if you are looking for a line of shoes that are made for feet that do not fit into what I call a normal category, e.g., a short, wide and flat foot that has funky toes, then I recommend that you give the Steve Madden shoe line a go. It should hold true for all of the styles in his line. I have these stiletto platforms, a pair of wedge platforms and a pair of moto boots and they all fit the same, comfortably with no pinching or binding and I can walk in them. Whenever I am looking for a particular color or style of shoe one of the first brands I search out are Steve Madden’s to see what he has out that is new. And if I find a pair uber cheap I’ll buy them just because they are Madden’s and they fit and who knows, maybe one day I will need a pair of shoes that are red and purple velvet platforms with black polka dots and a big ole’ bow on the front. Well, not really, but if they fit who knows I just might buy them anyway so long as they are on sale and a Steve Madden, which he is liable to create if he hasn’t already 🙂
For now my lovelies I will say good-bye.
